ABOUT

Hi there, I’m Natalie McCormick! Owner and sole therapist at, you guessed it, Natalie McCormick Counseling. Thanks so much for checking out my site, the online counseling resource for Pennsylvania & Florida residents. Congrats on taking the first steps on your journey!

A little about myself. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (I would say “Go Steelers!” here, but was told by marketing this may lose the Philadelphia demographic). My passion for the study of psychology started in high school after taking my first psychology class. It was fascinating to learn about all the ways that we, as people, tried to make sense of relationships, life and the world around us. I went on to study psychology at Duquesne University, double majoring in Psychology and Communication Studies, with a minor in Philosophy. After those 4 years of study, I knew that I wanted to be a therapist, so I went on to earn my Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at Chatham University, graduating in 2013. I am now a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Board-Certified TeleMental Health Counselor (BC-TMH). I hold therapy licenses in both Pennsylvania & Florida.

But, enough of that boring resume stuff. Here’s the knitty gritty. I’ve been practicing psychology since 2013, and this is a summary of what I have learned: being a human is freaking hard! And we all need a sidekick to navigate it sometimes. Acknowledging this fact of life is the first step that allows us to begin the process of change. After all, it’s pretty hard to change what you aren’t aware of, right?

If you’re checking out my site right now, it seems like you have already done the first step. Way to go! Now, let me help you get the rest of the way there. We all have blind spots and get stuck sometimes. Let’s collaborate to figure out what things are working for you, and what’s not working so great anymore. Things change, and so do we, so why not get support in working towards being the best version of you possible? The cool thing (and sometimes scary thing) is that you actually have the power to define, create AND enact this. Sometimes we just need a little support getting there.

I am first and foremost, a client-centered therapist. What that means is that I accept you for exactly who you are, exactly where you are. Then together, we will work to define and meet your goals. Some of the things we will use to get there are treatment methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (identifying thinking patterns that aren’t working anymore), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (strategies for getting unstuck from black & white thinking), Mindfulness-Based Counseling (there’s a million mindfulness strategies I’d love to share with you!), and Existential/Humanistic Approaches (how do we define and create meaning in our lives, what does it mean to exist, and what does it mean to be human).

Change IS possible. You’ve already done the first step. Now, let’s tackle the rest of it together.
